Michael brings nine years of public policy and economic policy experience from Nous Group, the Australian Treasury and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
He has an aptitude for leading teams and managing projects, harnessing the strengths of all team members to deliver high quality projects. He guides teams to combine data analysis and stakeholder engagement to derive robust and actionable insights that help clients to extend their influence.

Influential work

  • Developed an evidence base and strategy to inform Victoria’s offshore wind program
  • Developed several business cases for government, including options analysis and cost-benefit analysis for decarbonisation initiatives
  • Prepared an organisational blueprint and transition plan for a private sector energy organisation
  • Managed program evaluations, service reviews and regulatory practice reviews for government clients
  • Managed randomised, controlled trials to test the real-world effectiveness of behaviourally-informed interventions.

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, Michael spent five years at the Australian Treasury where he worked on budget policy on the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. He also spent two years at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in the Behavioural Economics Team, designing consumer-centric policy interventions and randomised controlled trials. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Public Policy in Economic Policy from the Australian National University.
