As a proud Ngardi-Jaru & Lungka Kija woman raised in Western Australia, Selina brings more than 20 years of experience in management and service delivery roles.
She has previously worked in the Western Australian and the Northern Territory Governments, including courts and youth justice, focusing on supporting Indigenous communities. Selina designs and leads consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations. She has a deep understanding of trauma-informed practice and the nuances and subtleties of communication and relationships in an Indigenous context.
Influential work
- Delivered a cultural competency training for the whole of Nous, providing a safe place to celebrate differences and learn about the importance of being trauma-aware and healing-informed
- Led discussions to review with women safety services in the greater Darwin region, involving extensive consultations with the organisations staff, board and key external stakeholders
- Influenced the Nous design of a model-of-care for the Territory Families detentions centre (Don Dale and Alice Springs)
- Facilitated workshops to educate Queensland housing staff to ensure their confidence in delivering domestic and family violence training
- Developed a census for the Banjima Trust in WA, supporting data sovereignty and ensuring it maintained, controlled, protected, developed and used data as it relates to their people.
