Trent is a data scientist who is highly skilled in applied statistics, machine learning, data visualisation and software development.
He has extensive experience leading complex data analytics projects for public and private sector clients across a range of sectors, with a particular specialisation in statistical modelling for program evaluation and higher education analytics. Trent is a published academic author and statistical software developer with over five years’ experience as the lead researcher and statistician on projects.

Influential work

  • Led statistical modelling for the evaluation of a bail support services program to understand effectiveness for different cohorts and to inform design and funding decisions
  • Led statistical modelling for the evaluation of a conditional bail program to understand predictors of success and the impact of additional resources on outcomes
  • Led analytical work and software tool development to quantify the global market competitiveness of Australia as a study destination for international students in terms of fees, cost of living and employability outcomes
  • Led statistical modelling and data visualisation for the evaluation of a program that provides community-based psychological support to at-risk mothers
  • Delivered an advanced analytics project for an Australian university, integrating job advertisement and education data to forecast market opportunities.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Trent was an associate at Grant Thornton Consulting, a statistician and researcher at The University of Queensland and Griffith University, and an intern at Boeing Defence Australia. Trent is an ongoing regular collaborator with researchers at the Queensland Brain Institute as a statistician for projects involving analysis of fMRI data.

Trent is currently completing his PhD in computational statistics where he is focusing on developing and applying open-source time-series statistics software. He already holds a Master of Organisational Psychology from Griffith University and a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) from The University of Queensland.

In his spare time...

Trent can be found running his open data science website Orbisant Analytics, being a Dungeon Master for his D&D campaigns and writing music for his metal band The Archon Rift.
