Nouser Spotlight – Grace Simpson

Nouser Spotlight – Grace Simpson

Meet Grace Simpson, a Manager in Nous Group’s London office

A Manager in the Nous London office, Grace Simpson is a public policy specialist with an interest in higher education.

With an academic background in sociology and public policy, she joined Nous while visiting Australia then transferred to the UK. Grace uses her background in higher education policy to support our clients in the sector.

As Grace explains, Nous combines the inclusive culture of the public sector with the efficiency of the private sector.

We know that no two days are ever the same, but what might you do on a typical day at Nous?

Most of our days are spent supporting clients with projects. After a team catchup, a day might involve running a workshop or a client meeting to present progress and emerging findings, writing reports and presentations to lay out solutions, or solving project challenges.

What three words best describe working at Nous?

Stimulating, fun, varied

What opportunities does the growth of Nous in London offer you?

I have had the opportunity to work on a range of project types, with access to experts who are always generous with their time. In higher education, recently I have worked on equality, diversity and inclusion projects, including strategies for widening access and supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds, and strategies for racial equality.

What sets the Nous culture apart from the culture of other organisations?

Nous provides the supportive, open and inclusive culture of the public sector and the high-performing and efficient culture of the private sector. Nous’ London office feels very non-hierarchical; I never feel like I’m competing with my colleagues.

Tell us about the moment you knew you’d made the right decision to join Nous.

Attending the launch of Nous Proud (the LGBTIQ+ support network) in Melbourne, and seeing the genuine enthusiasm and support across all levels of the organisation, made me know I was at the right place.

What part of working at Nous has most surprised you?

I have been surprised by Nous’ genuinely supportive and relaxed environment. Having never worked in management consulting before, I was expecting a much more corporate atmosphere.

How does Nous support your career progression?

The feedback culture at Nous means I am continually learning how best to deliver projects. Colleagues are always open to me stepping into new roles and trying new things. My performance coach, colleagues and I are always looking for ways to support each other.
