Dan has a background in organisational psychology with expertise in organisation design, change management and capability development.
Drawing from experience in research-focused roles, he is quick to identify client problems and collaboratively create pragmatic long-term solutions for people, and through them, the organisations they power.

Influential work

  • Managed a functional review for a state government office and helped implement recommendations to support the organisation to respond to an increase in the complexity and volume of its core work
  • Supported the redesign of a government agency’s learning and development department, including its operating model, structure and roles and responsibilities, to enable quality service delivery and to support workforce attraction, engagement and retention
  • Conducted a capability and capacity audit of Western Australia’s emergency relief and support resources to ensure the sector can meet the state’s relief and recovery needs in response to the increasing frequency and scale of emergency events
  • Co-developed a state-wide workforce strategy to support Aboriginal community-controlled health services to identify and develop their target workforce over the next five years
  • Helped a leading public university to develop an approach to strategic talent acquisition and management, responding to its immediate needs while setting it up to deliver on its long-term talent objectives.

Outside of Nous

Prior to Nous, Dan headed up the People and Culture function for a fast-growing sustainability consultancy, where he established people processes and helped grow the national team by 30 per cent. Previously working in the United Kingdom, Dan advised on critical executive and non-executive appointments for significant listed and private equity-backed businesses across multiple functions and sectors.

Dan’s interest in talent development extends to his voluntary work with a Perth-based community services organisation that helps migrant and refugee newcomers become job-ready. He holds a Master of Organisational Psychology from Birkbeck, the University of London.

In his spare time...

Dan enjoys restoring old furniture, adding to his extensive colourful socks and practicing yoga – preferably with a view of the ocean.
