He builds strong relationships with clients and uses his critical thinking abilities and interpersonal skills to achieve their goals. From his studies in law and political science he has developed skills in writing and researching, effective communication, relationship building and problem solving.
Prior to joining Nous, Hennie obtained a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) at the University of Canterbury and completed his Professional Legal Studies Course with the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS).
During his studies he worked at Community Law Canterbury, where he interviewed and assisted more than 1,000 clients on legal issues involving family, immigration, civil, criminal and tenancy law. Hennie also worked as a law clerk at Shine Lawyers, where his work centred on civil law matters, such as earthquake claims, construction disputes, judicial review, trust litigation and mediation.
In addition, Hennie volunteered as a sports mentor for Special Friends Sports Trust, which was established to give disadvantaged children the opportunity to participate in sport and have a mentor in their lives.
Hennie enjoys following Manchester United and likes to go hiking, surfing, and playing golf as well as reading about politics and history.
