He translates stakeholder requirements into technical specifications – from data architecture to statistical modelling. He combines human-centred design with grammar of graphics to create narrative-guided visualisations and interactive explorations. He empowers people to use data and leading methods innovatively to cross unconventional borders and influence bold agendas. He is also passionate about using data to uncover the human stories behind the ones and zeros.
Prior to Nous, Jakob led and managed several high-profile, high-impact data-driven projects across the ACT Data Analytics Centre, ACT Health, and Australian National University (ANU). He also offers his data expertise pro bono with researchers with whom he shares a common intent for good. A strong advocate for data literacy, he founded Data Alliance, an employee-led network to cultivate data-curious cultures with masterclasses and memes.
Jakob holds a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies from ANU. He has also completed several data engineering, data science and data visualisation online courses. He is an ANU Vice-Chancellor's Student Leadership Program alumnus and was the State Finalist for the 2016 Student Leader of the Year Award by the Australian Institute of Management.
Jakob can be found crafting 3D wooden models, exploring the Kingdom of Hyrule, deceiving friends in One Night Ultimate Werewolf, embarking on gastronomical adventures, training to be a boxer and studying sharks.
