Michael O'Shea

• Managed a project to create state-wide health reports on patient outcomes, leading to improved health decisions across Primary Health Networks
• Worked with the Queensland Government and other stakeholders to support the review of over $300 million in reform initiatives
• Developed predictive statistical models for the Australian Olympic swimming team to assist with team selection and ordering decisions
• Modelled the international student pricing strategy for a Go8 university, combining economic theory, statistical methods and internal strategy to arrive at an optimal solution
• Supported Study Queensland to create a post COVID-19 international marketing strategy.

Prior to joining Nous, Michael has worked at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers (ACEMS), a professional services firm and an Australian health start-up. His work has primarily involved recommendations in data heavy contexts, using statistical tools and techniques to address business and other problems.

Michael was a community consultant for Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Big Lift, working towards Indigenous reconciliation; and was Vice President and a philanthropy coordinator for the science and engineering alumni of the Dean’s Scholars at QUT. He studied at QUT as a Vice-Chancellor’s and Dean’s scholar.

Michael enjoys playing football and board games, stand-up comedy and reading. He also enjoys exploring beaches and waterfalls.
