Michael uses his expertise in scientific methodology and data analysis to answer important questions for clients and their stakeholders.

He is passionate about using data to provide impactful solutions to big problems. Michael spent eight years in academic medical research evaluating the effectiveness of healthcare interventions. He has led international collaborations, published research in leading peer-reviewed medical journals, and produced reports for global health organisations. He has presented his research nationally and internationally at conferences and via media outlets.

Influential work

  • Led a report on pharmacotherapies for chronic low back pain for a World Health Organization global guideline, systematically evaluating the evidence for analgesic medicines for chronic low back pain with international collaborators
  • Authored more than 40 scientific journal articles, leading international collaborations, managing project tasks and timelines and publishing research in leading peer-reviewed medical journals
  • Was a casual academic in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for seven years, teaching supervising and assessing undergraduate students and redeveloping research methods modules and clinical skills tutorials.

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, Michael completed a Doctor of Philosophy at UNSW, focusing on improving the use of analgesic medicines for low back pain. He submitted his thesis in January 2023.

Michael also holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Exercise Physiology from UNSW. He was awarded The University Medal in Exercise Physiology.

In his spare time...

Michael enjoys staying physically active in the gym or a dance class, going to the theatre, and watching Formula One car racing.
