Raffaella Recupero

Raffaella has worked for two decades on ecosystem-level and organisational challenges in the public sector, including societal problems, national reforms and digital transformation.

Early in her career as a public servant, Raffaella designed user experiences in a tax reform context and helped build design capability. In her consulting career, she led teams redesigning government policies, services and digital experiences. Raffaella thrives in fast delivery environments, leading teams to reimagine experiences through co-design. She is a strong strategic thinker and master facilitator and service designer.

Influential work

  • Led the service design stream for the transformation of the Australian Government’s security vetting experience, including a new IT platform and portal. Raffaella guided stakeholders through a co-design approach to deliver a service blueprint and validate 800+ requirements
  • Led the experience design of the COVID-19 vaccine order management system, working with the Department of Health, solution architects, developers and end-users to design and develop a critical asset in Australia’s vaccine delivery program
  • Advised the executive team of Legal Aid NSW on the development of a regional service model and various pilots, and the research and development of a client service strategy that transforms the way legal aid services are delivered to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people of NSW.

Outside of Nous

Outside of Nous, Raffaella mentors the next generation of designers in Australia and overseas in their careers and in making big choices like creating a start-up. Raffaella holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Finance) and a Graduate Diploma in Modern Languages (Spanish) from the University of Canberra; degree-level courses in business administration from John Cabot University, Rome; and a Prince2 Foundations Accreditation in Project Management.

In her spare time...

When Raffaella isn't working, she is with her two energetic boys enjoying the outdoors, travelling, reading books or watching foreign films.
