Alex has spent the past six years working in speech pathology roles in tertiary hospitals in Melbourne and the UK’s National Health Service.

She has developed a deep understanding of the Australian healthcare system at a consumer and clinician level and a practical understanding of the system’s demands and the need to improve it to optimise outcomes. She has also supported the implementation of digital systems, including electronic medical records and telehealth models.

Influential work

  • Supported the design and implementation of a new clinical electronic documentation system
  • Presented on several panels on the experience of working as a key member of the ICU COVID-19 clinical team
  • Co-coordinated the development and project management of a case study that was delivered to hospital staff, and which focused on the benefits of the Early Supported Discharge program for stroke rehabilitation and recovery.

Outside of Nous

Alex has clinical experience across the healthcare continuum. Over the past two years she has worked on the COVID-19 response, in a clinical capacity in the ICU and on wards and supporting the establishment of Victoria's first drive-through testing site. She also supported the transition to telehealth models of care in response to pandemic restrictions.

Outside of Alex’s professional experience, she enjoys engaging in community volunteering, with a particular focus on food insecurity and children in sport. She completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Speech Pathology at La Trobe University in 2016 and returned the following year to present at the university’s careers event.

In her spare time...

Alex attends weekly pottery classes, tries to see as many musicals as possible, loves watching the Dees at the 'G and is a keen traveller.
