She has developed a deep understanding of the Australian healthcare system at a consumer and clinician level and a practical understanding of the system’s demands and the need to improve it to optimise outcomes. She has also supported the implementation of digital systems, including electronic medical records and telehealth models.
Alex has clinical experience across the healthcare continuum. Over the past two years she has worked on the COVID-19 response, in a clinical capacity in the ICU and on wards and supporting the establishment of Victoria's first drive-through testing site. She also supported the transition to telehealth models of care in response to pandemic restrictions.
Outside of Alex’s professional experience, she enjoys engaging in community volunteering, with a particular focus on food insecurity and children in sport. She completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Speech Pathology at La Trobe University in 2016 and returned the following year to present at the university’s careers event.
Alex attends weekly pottery classes, tries to see as many musicals as possible, loves watching the Dees at the 'G and is a keen traveller.
