James is an expert researcher, analyst, and communicator who is passionate about using qualitative data to unpack complex problems and drive decision-making.
He brings a wealth of experience in the tertiary education, cultural, and creative industries, and a scholarly understanding of policymaking, enterprise management and entrepreneurship.
- Conducted research and analysis for an ARC-funded project that enhanced public comprehension of the impacts of internet-distributed television in Australia
- Published peer-reviewed research on Australian media industries that advanced scholarly understanding of local film history, cultural policy, and arts entrepreneurship.
- Designed a governance framework and recruited a board for a small arts not-for-profit publisher.
Outside of Nous
Prior to joining Nous, James was a screen studies academic and tertiary educator. He also worked as a journalist and critic writing on film and culture for Australian and international publications.
James holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Communications from RMIT University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.
