Karina is an experienced public policy professional with an aptitude for government affairs and economics.
Graduating with a master’s in public policy and economics from the University of Toronto, Karina is passionate about the economics behind public policies and their applications in urban environments. Karina has worked with clients and their stakeholders in Canada, Spain, and Costa Rica to foster international trade and business relationships. Karina utilizes her diverse professional background to help clients solve complex issues.

Influential work

  • Developed market reports for the aerospace, smart mobility and cleantech sectors in Spain to critically assess and evaluate various Canadian companies’ business opportunities in the Spanish market
  • Co-managed a research project for the Consulate General of Costa Rica in Toronto on Canadian-Costa Rican government relations and Latino representation in Toronto legislatively and socially
  • Created 19 bilateral relations briefs between Canada and Pacific Island Countries, Australia, and New Zealand by analyzing trade data and researching bilateral engagements for Global Affairs Canada
  • Managed a team of 15 undergraduate students at the University of Toronto to select, edit, and publish papers in various undergraduate academic research journals.
  • Served as a key aide for the NATO summit in Madrid of 2022.

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Karina worked with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in the Southeast Asia and Oceania division as an analyst. Prior to joining that division, Karina was stationed in Madrid during her time with the Trade Commissioner Service. She also has experience working for the government of Costa Rica.

Karina recently graduated from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy with a Master of Public Policy. During her time at the University of Toronto she was an editorial board member and contributor for undergraduate academic journals.

In her spare time...

Karina enjoys cycling, swimming, and the occasional pickleball tournament. She is also actively trying to learn Italian.
