Marianna is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years of experience leading work on complex public policy issues with a whole-of-system lens.
She has worked across government, not-for-profit, and private sectors in Australia and internationally. Marianna has a track record of achieving tangible impact on challenging issues in multi-stakeholder environments. She has deep expertise in strategy development, evaluations, governance and public policy across justice, human services and mental health.

Influential work

  • Led multiple complex mixed-method evaluations of justice sector programs aimed at reducing offending and recidivism by children and young people and adults
  • Led the largest engagement of regional young people ever commissioned by the NSW Government to understand priority areas for investment, including a focus on hard to reach demographics
  • Supported a range of large not-for-profit organisations to develop and implement their strategic priorities, in areas including mental health, housing, human services and justice
  • Led the development of multiple detailed business cases on accommodation services, including youth accommodation and support services
  • Managed the review and redesign of the NSW gambling help system to increase the accessibility of help options, based on an extensive co-design process with help seekers and service providers, and detailed data analysis and modelling

Outside of Nous

Before joining Nous, Marianna led the Sydney Peace Foundation, with a focus on improving strategic outcomes and financial sustainability. She has worked in senior roles with not-for-profit organisations on social issues in London and Shanghai, including as an associate fellow with Chatham House. Marianna started her career in the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with a posting to Bangkok, and was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of NSW.

Marianna holds a MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Science/Law (Honours) from the University of Sydney. She is a board member of Burdekin Youth Services.

After returning to Australia following many years abroad, Marianna loves exploring Sydney and its surrounds with her family.
