Michael Hood headshot
Michael is a Manager in Nous’ Perth office with experience in the health, mental health and human services sectors.
He has worked extensively in regional and remote parts of Western Australia (WA) and engaged with Aboriginal leaders, Traditional Owners and vulnerable populations. Michael is a critical thinker with strong interpersonal skills and has been recognised for the candour and curiosity that he brings to engagements.

Influential work

  • Conducted a social impact and opportunities assessment and supported the negotiation of a multi-million-dollar mining agreement for a large ASX-listed company
  • Implemented the recommendations from the Ministerial Taskforce into Public Mental Health Services for Infants, Children, and Adolescents aged 0-18 years, including developing 12 care models
  • Engaged with more than 450 researchers, funding partners, grant recipients and grant program managers to review Cancer Australia’s grant programs to identify strategic improvements and efficiencies
  • Reviewed WA’s Community Alcohol and Drug Services by engaging over 300 stakeholders in WA to explore how the services are being delivered and identify improvement
  • Developed a model to articulate how health care should be delivered across all WA prisons to respond to increasing demand and patient needs’ complexity while balancing safety.

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, Michael studied economics and accounting and was the valedictorian at the University of Western Australia. He has previous experience as the Treasurer and Finance Manager of a small Perth-based charity that aims to break the stigma surrounding homelessness.

Michael competed in the Microsoft Protege Case Competition, where his team placed in the top 16 teams nationally. He was also named as a Top 100 Future Leader.

In his spare time...

Michael keeps fit and socialises by playing hockey, squash and running. He enjoys spending time at the beach and playing board games with friends.
