Nick Sakov

Nick is an experienced consultant who is passionate about working with clients to understand and resolve complex problems.

His experience cuts across multiple sectors and capabilities, with a focus on Defence, national security and environmental sustainability. Nick’s background in philosophy, international relations and economics contributes to his passion for big-picture thinking and a focus on the people side of challenges.

Influential Work

Supported the rapid setup of the branch of an Australian Government department, designed to coordinate and integrate a complex and ambitious reform agenda, by defining reform scope and enabling detailed tracking and reporting
Evaluated an Australian Government department’s graduate and entry-level programs, leading to recommendations for more aligned implementation with improved strategic decision-making
Assisted a security-focused government organisation with the development of a capability framework to enable HR functions such as workforce planning and talent management
Project-managed and partnered with an Australian Government department to undertake a nationwide consultation as part of creating a national plan to develop Australia’s sustainable ocean economy
Reviewed the Australian Government’s flagship capability development and innovation program for small and medium-sized enterprises, undertaking a cost-benefit and econometric analysis.

Outside of Nous

Nick holds a Master of International Relations from the Australian National University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tasmania.

Prior to joining Nous, Nick worked in research administration and government relations at the ANU and led multiple sports and youth-focused organisations.

In his spare time...

Nick enjoys being active through social sports, hiking and skiing. He is a keen reader and can often be found learning a language or planning his next trip abroad.
