Steven is experienced in strategy, organisational design and implementation for universities, not-for-profit organisations and government, including managing large programs of work in healthcare, human services and healthcare.
His engagement with diverse stakeholder groups was instrumental in resolving complex situations during overseas assignments with the Australian Public Service. Steven is co-chair of Nous’ LGBTIQ+ network, Nous Proud, and believes diversity and inclusion empowers employees to perform at their best.
Influential work
- Managed the design and strategy for a new campus for the University of New England in Tamworth to meet the region’s future skill and research needs
- Managed the development of an implementation plan for value-based healthcare for the State Insurance Regulatory Authority
- Redesigned a home care support program for an Australian Government department
- Developed the advancement and outreach strategy for a university to improve its effectiveness and increase its impact
- Redesigned operating models for federal and state government departments in the health and human services sectors.
Outside of Nous
Steven worked for the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Hong Kong as a consul, managing client and corporate services. His role included contingency planning and crisis response, and in 2015 he was deployed to Nepal to lead a team assisting Australians stranded by the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Prior to his posting to Hong Kong, Steven worked in a variety of corporate roles in Canberra and Tarawa, Kiribati.
Steven holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Bachelor of International Studies from Flinders University. He is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) Australia member.
In his spare time...
Steven enjoys crime novels, travel and exercise. He is a patrolling member and competitor for Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club, having been involved in Surf Life Saving for over 20 years.
