Madeleine Buhagiar headshot
Madeleine is an Organisational Psychologist driven by a passion for designing meaningful, evidence-based solutions that unlock leadership potential and foster growth across individuals, teams and organisations. Her approach is grounded in behavioural science and shaped by curiosity, empathy and a practical understanding of how people learn and work.
Maddy has partnered with organisations across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to address complex people challenges, co-design strategy-aligned learning programs and build internal capability at all levels. Her expertise spans leadership assessment and development, change management, capability uplift, strategic planning, engagement, culture transformation, operating model design, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Influential work

  • Partnered with a NSW State Government department to design and deliver a Women in Leadership program and embed a culture of inclusion, building awareness of organisational inequities and implementing tangible actions to promote inclusive team environments 
  • Led the design, facilitation, and coaching of a leadership program for a Parliamentary Department, including Hogan 360 assessment debriefs and a two-day workshop to establish a shared leadership language 
  • Designed an adaptive leadership program for a private sector client undergoing significant transformation, informed by extensive stakeholder consultation and tailored for global scalability 
  • Coordinated the design, delivery and evaluation of learning events for a major Melbourne hospital’s cultural transformation initiative, addressing workplace incivility to improve employee experience and patient outcomes 
  • Supported the development of a learning program to build inclusive behaviours and mindsets and address psychosocial risks across the organisation, meeting employees where they were on their journey and using practical tools and examples to embed learning in a diverse workforce 
  • Advised a Melbourne-based healthcare organisation’s CEO and CMO on reviewing medical leadership and clinical governance structures, aligning them with future strategy through stakeholder consultation 
  • Co-designed a global leadership framework for an Australian university, developing the framework iteratively with input from a steering committee in order to cultivate a high-performing leadership cohort aligned with strategic goals 

Outside of Nous

Maddy is the Chair of the Victorian College of Organisational Psychologists. She holds a Master of Psychology (Organisational) from Deakin University, where she also completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science and a Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Advanced). During her studies, she worked with Hudson, Deakin University and Nous, and served as Cultural Transformation Project Coordinator at the Royal Children’s Hospital. 

She is accredited in a range of psychological assessments, including Saville Wave, MLQ360, Hogan (HPI, HDS, MVPI, 360), MBTI, Mental Health First Aid, PCI Fundamentals and the Strong Interest Inventory. 

In her spare time...

Maddy enjoys Pilates and yoga, discovering new restaurants and cafés, and travelling whenever she gets the chance.
