Design

Human-centred design also known as design thinking, is a comprehensive approach to problem solving. We use design research to inform the design of products, services and experiences that are functional, simple and intuitive for people to use.

Our consultants blend qualitative and quantitative research, co-design methods and contemporary thinking on technology to design world-class products, services and experiences. And we don’t stop there – we also support our clients to implement and evaluate new designs.

Our design services include

Customer experience strategy and measurement

Customer experience measurement lets organisations systematically measure customer sentiment and experience, providing insights and informing strategies to improve service. Our consultants take a broad and rigorous approach to customer experience measurement. We also develop strategies to improve customers’ service experience and define measures to track success.

Digital product design

To create digital products like websites and applications, human-centred design ensures that the right content, features and functionality are presented in the right place, time and way to provide optimum user experiences, effortless interaction, and ultimately, business benefit. Our consultants design user-centred digital products, including websites and apps.

User research insights

User research uses qualitative and quantitative methods to discover users’ needs, understand their behaviours and develop empathy to better address their requirements. Our consultants conduct in-depth customer and user research – alongside understanding organisational context, capability and innovation appetite – to improve products and services.

Service design and implementation

Service design is a method for improving or creating a service around the needs and experiences of users to deliver customer and organisational benefits. Our consultants use human-centred design to reimagine services and support implementation.

OUR APPROACH

How we approach human-centred design

INSIGHTS
Disability support navigation

The complexity of the disability system is here to stay. We need to get better at helping people navigate it.

Investing in system navigation will be like giving people a torch, a map and a guide to help them through the labyrinth of the disability support.

Design for people who are systematically overlooked, and you will have designed for everyone

When design is not deliberately inclusive, it is unintentionally exclusive. Reasons include our cognitive biases, historic factors, research that requires participants to have a certain level of English, and the use of datasets with entrenched bias.

OUR WORK

Local solutions improve planning approvals across Victoria

Over 18 months, we workshopped solutions with applicants and councils, prototyped tools, developed templates and tested solutions  across diverse local government contexts and a range of permit types.
