He has conducted sensitive qualitative research with diverse populations and has a passion for leveraging lived experience expertise to achieve optimal outcomes.

Influential work

  • Led qualitative research into conflict between Australian mental health workers with and without lived experience of mental health issues, producing a report with significant implications for navigating differences in this workforce
  • Developed a resource delivering lived-experience insights to people newly diagnosed with herpes
  • Conducted stakeholder consultation and systematic literature reviews to identify and outline the benefits of a trauma-informed workplace model for people with disability and carers
  • Worked with a team of diverse young people to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of one of the ACT’s two sexual health services
  • Performed qualitative analysis as part of a research team to examine the relationship between the patient-centredness and perspective-taking skills of first year medical students

Outside of Nous

Before Nous, Cole conducted strategic qualitative research with both ACT Health and the ANU School of Health and Medicine. Most recently, he worked in a role with Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT, aimed at deploying lived experience insights to improve the service, and the sexual health literacy of the young people in the ACT. He has also worked in pastoral care and primary and tertiary education.

In his spare time...

Cole loves visiting beaches, swimming, and attempting to surf around Australia and the world. In his free time, he reads, tries to write, and volunteers as a Telephone Crisis Supporter for Lifeline Australia.
