Gene partners with for purpose organisations to deliver impactful change across the health and human services sector.
For close to a decade, he has worked on complex reform projects spanning aged care, disability, health, and human services with government and private providers. He works closely with operational teams and executive leaders to create practical improvements for people who depend on public and community services. Clients value his dedication, collaborative style, and ability to bring people together to achieve shared goals.

Influential work

  • Led focus groups with assessors, consumer representatives, and peak bodies to review the national aged care assessment tool, resulting in fairer access for First Nations and CALD older Australians 
  • Managed a national project with a major residential aged care provider, leading staff and manager focus groups and mapping resident and staff journeys to inform a new model of care for 7,600 residents and 11,000 employees 
  • Developed a home-based aged care strategy for a newly merged public health service during major sector reform, helping sustain vital services in thin markets and reduce demand on hospital beds 
  • Partnered with the NDIA’s provider management team for six months as part of an enterprise-wide transformation program, advancing participant choice and control, provider accountability, and government oversight of NDIS spending 
  • Developed a strategy and business case to protect customers experiencing domestic violence and financial abuse for Victoria’s largest regional urban water provider, leading focus groups with survivors of domestic violence and assessing processes and technology platforms to strengthen protections for over 350,000 customers 

Outside of Nous

Prior to joining Nous, Gene worked in public sector advisory for five years. During this time, he supported governments, universities and community service providers on a range of public policy, strategy and organisational performance projects.   

Gene has previously represented Victoria in amateur football; and coached junior football and cricket in Melbourne for ten years.   

Gene holds a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) from Monash University, having completed part of his studies abroad at the University of Warwick.  

In his spare time...

Gene enjoys hiking in the outdoors with friends, discovering new destinations through travel, and catching live music gigs whenever his favourite bands are in town.
