Hamish is a trusted advisor to leaders tackling complex problems.
He advises leaders in the public and private sectors on challenges and opportunities across energy, resources, and the environment. He helps clients manage the impacts of the energy transition by focusing on key areas like workforce strategy, operational performance, and organisational design. Hamish has extensive experience advising organisations across Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Influential work

  • Guided the Victorian Government’s landmark strategy to deliver a nine-gigawatt offshore wind industry, delivering a comprehensive workforce strategy and industry development plan to build local capability
  • Led a strategic review of a regulated energy network’s operational response to an extreme weather event, identifying critical reforms to improve resilience and restore customer trust following unprecedented outages
  • Shaped the global workforce strategy for a major metals and mining organisation, delivering a review that identified key opportunities to enhance safety, stability, and productivity across its international portfolio
  • Designed a strategic workforce planning model and implementation roadmap for a major Australian energy distributor, enabling them to proactively manage critical skill gaps in a highly competitive labour market
  • Developed an interactive skills-forecasting model to map the workforce implications of new energy storage technologies—including batteries, pumped hydro, and hydrogen—across the state of Victoria

Outside of Nous

Hamish has a diverse work history in Australia and overseas. He started his career by exploring commercial roles in the banking and energy sectors, as well as in technical roles in resource exploration. He previously worked in corporate partnerships for a not-for-profit organisation that campaigned to reduce social violence in Australia. As a Nous consultant he enjoys working with a wide array of clients and colleagues to solve complex problems across different areas.

Hamish holds a Master of Science (Earth Science), a Graduate Diploma of Science (Geology) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) from The University of Melbourne.

In his spare time...

Hamish enjoys hockey and ocean swimming. Having grown up in Perth he is fond of the beach, the outdoors and the Fremantle Dockers.
