Influential work
- Supported community engagement and networking with First Nations people as a Research Assistant at the University of Canberra, including interviewing First Nations people about their experiences with healthcare and government information during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Supported First Nations students and students with disability as part of the Ngunnawal Centre and InclusionUC at the University of Canberra
- Completed teaching placements at private and government high schools, specialising in English, History, and Indigenous Studies
- Supported program and policy development for the Ngunnawal Centre at the University of Canberra, including developing an initiative to support UC’s First Nations students in traveling to and attending professional development conferences related to their degrees
- Supported a Nous review of a government health program and made significant contributions to the case study portion of the project
Outside of Nous
Before joining Nous, Nyingari studied a double degree in secondary education and arts, majoring in English literature and Indigenous studies, at the University of Canberra. She graduated in 2023.
In 2017, Nyingari received the ACT NAIDOC Scholar of the Year Award for her academic efforts. She also received an ACT Tertiary Education Scholarship, which enabled her to participate in a Study Abroad program where she attended Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. Upon her return to Australia, some of her poems were published in “Story Ground: An Anthology”.
She is currently continuing her education journey by studying another Bachelor of Arts, this time in culture and heritage.
In her spare time...
Nyingari enjoys PC gaming with friends and family. If she's not doing that, she's doing something creative.
