Sean brings extensive experience working with clients in many sectors.
He brings a collaborative and creative approach to solving clients’ problems and communicates solutions in a logical and pragmatic way. Prior to joining Nous, Sean worked in government and commercial law.

Influential work

  • Advised on the legislative development and implementation of a significant new function for an Australian Government regulator, including consultation with other government entities
  • Acted in successful proceedings for various Australian Government regulators, resulting in multi-million-dollar penalties on multiple occasions
  • Developed new approaches and processes for various functions of an Australian Government regulator to improve efficiency and balance risk
  • Advised major employers on industrial instrument compliance, including identifying compliance issues and developing rectification programs
  • Provided legal advice to clients across regulatory, commercial and employment law
  • Assisted a major logistics company navigate a significant restructure and sell a key component of the business.

Outside of Nous

Sean previously worked for the Australian Government Solicitor, where he acted for government entities primarily on regulatory matters and was seconded at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. Prior to that, he worked in commercial law at Ashurst, where he supported diverse public and private clients.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from Monash University and is admitted to legal practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.

In his spare time...

Sean loves exploring the Top End through camping, hiking and fishing (but almost never catching). He also endures the ups and downs of being a lifelong Canberra Raiders fan.
