Ian brings a strong ability to ask the right questions and listen to build a comprehensive understanding of clients' problems.

He brings operational and strategic experience from managing projects across units within universities, leading front-line student services, and advising educational leaders to provide the best experiences possible to students, staff, and faculty. He has worked with clients across the K-12, post-secondary, government, non-profit, First Nations, and international development sectors.

Influential work

Co-developed a 10-year implementation roadmap to support a First Nation in reclaiming its education jurisdiction, including developing a new governance model, advising on a transformation office structure, and outlining critical activities across administration, operations and capital
Increased post-secondary access for 5,000+ disadvantaged students annually through conducting market research, current state analysis, and journey mapping for a national non-profit's structure, management, and financial sustainability
Facilitated conversations with C-suite executives from top provincial post-secondary institutions to discuss fiscal sustainability and opportunities for collaboration
Created a comprehensive action plan for a major international development agency to expand operations into a neighbouring Central Asian country
Led seven front-line services at Canada’s largest student union, improving academic outcomes and well-being for tens of thousands of students annually

Outside of Nous

Prior to Nous, Ian was a Partnerships Fellow at the Aga Khan Foundation Kyrgyz Republic, working with international development partners to uplift the lives of vulnerable communities through improved education, healthcare, agriculture, work skills, and more.

He has also worked for Deloitte's Higher Education Transformation practice and served as Student Services Manager at the Alma Mater Society of the University of British Columbia, Canada's largest student union.
