Peter leads Nous Government and Defence practice in the UK. He has leadership and consulting experience across the public, private and voluntary sectors at executive and board level.
He brings a breadth of perspective, challenge and insight that he deploys effectively in consulting assignments. Peter works across a range of government departments and agencies.

Influential work

  • Led the development and delivery of Nous CEO Masterclass Programme, now into its fourth year, brings together experienced CEOs to share their perspective with high potential senior leaders 
  • Leading multi-agency exercises in maritime security to develop improved systemic responses to emerging risks 
  • Leading a challenge team for a major Defence procurement programme, working closely the SRO and senior leaders to ensure it retains its focus on what matters 
  • Multi-year partnership with a public body to develop the leadership capability of the executive and leadership teams 
  • Developing a Teaming methodology for a global multi-national 
  • As director at the Electoral Commission, led complex negotiations to influence government to deliver a proportionate and effective new regulatory regime 
  • Designed and delivered a major change programme covering over 2000 people, working with the board and permanent secretary to set the strategic direction for the newly created Department for Business 

Outside of Nous

Peter started his career with five years in supply chain management with Unilever, working in both operational and head office roles. He subsequently became a senior civil servant in the UK’s Cabinet Office and Department for Business.  

Peter also spent five years as a consultant working independently and with an expert organisation design consultancy. His clients included the Football Association, the Home Office, the Financial Conduct Authority, the British Heart Foundation, HS2, Centrica and a leading Asset Management firm. Peter has served as a charity trustee with Getting on Board for six years and the Lightyear Foundation for five. 

Peter holds a Bachelor of Science (physics and French) from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom and l'Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse (INSA). He is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and speaks fluent French. 

In his spare time...

Peter is a run director of his local parkrun and can be found there with every Saturday morning.
