Nous Group is pleased to announce that data collection has commenced on a new study called Adapting for Sustainability in Disability Services

The disability sector in Australia has been through a period of significant transformation since the introduction of the NDIS including changes in policy arrangements, funding structures, an evolving regulatory landscape, and the increasing complexity of service delivery. This has resulted in many changes to service providers’ service and business models as they have adapted to this changing environment.

Against this backdrop, Nous Group is undertaking a survey of disability service providers across the country to build an evidence-base of the contemporary challenges they are grappling with as they continue to adapt their service and business models. Drawing on our own experience working across the sector, and through a combination of qualitative interviews and a sector-wide survey, we will explore a range of critical questions facing the sector. These include:

  • What challenges and pressures are providers currently grappling with that influence how they operate and provide services to people with disability?
  • How are providers performing financially and what risks must be managed to ensure their short- and medium-term viability?
  • How are providers adapting their service portfolios and business models in the context of contemporary system transformation?
  • What workforce and organisational capabilities do providers and their staff need to continue providing high-quality disability supports into the future?

We invite Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Directors of Service Delivery or similar representatives to participate in the survey on behalf of their organisation. The survey will be open until Friday 26 September, 2025.

We will be publishing results from this study later this year.
