Alex is an education policy and organisational performance expert.
As an experienced leader and facilitator, he excels at guiding clients through complex change. He has worked with government, providers and not-for-profits on policy design, evaluation, strategy, operating model and implementation projects. He has a particular passion for supporting learners who face structural barriers to participation to navigate pathways into learning and meaningful work.
Influential work
- Developed a statewide operating model for careers and pathways for a state government to strengthen system coherence, funding, workforce capacity and capability
- Supported the Victorian Skills Authority to develop the first Victorian Skills Plan
- Multiple evaluations of school teaching and learning reforms for state government departments
- Developed a new learning and development operating model for a large government service delivery agency
- Developed a new product strategy and operating model for a Go8 University's pathways college
- Multiple reviews of foundation skills systems for state government departments
- Multiple projects with jobs and skills councils on career pathways, skills audits and impact analysis
- Developed a reallocation model to support decisions on what and how to move admin and compliance work away from schools to central government
Outside of Nous
Alex is a teacher in the Master of International Development program at RMIT University and has co-authored a book chapter on this work.
Before joining Nous, Alex was a Director at the Foundation for Young Australians, where he led the research and policy portfolio.
Alex holds a Master of International Development from RMIT University and a Bachelor Performing Arts from Monash University.
In his spare time...
Alex has a passion for all things sport, particularly AFL and the English Premier League; playing electronic music on vinyls and going on adventures with his young family.
